We are 100 UK printmakers creating inspiring prints on an annual theme. In 2024, the theme was "Bring me Sunshine" inspired by the Morecambe & Wise song, with prints sold in aid of two charities - Place 2 Be and Edible Rotherhithe. Place 2 Be helps school children improve their mental health and wellbeing across the UK. Edible Rotherhithe provides creative learning opportunities through gardening and printmaking sessions in schools. For more information about these charities and what they do, please visit

Pipey Dreams
Sarah Billany
This years theme took me to those crazy, sleepless early years when I would sing to my beautiful boys (any random songs I could remember the words to). I still sing, but now mostly to the dog. The boys still bring me sunshine and I hope this what their lives will be filled with. Thanks to the work of charities like Place2be and Edible Rotherhithe, that sunshine spreads.
This is a varied edition print, each handprinted onto Japanese Hosho paper and finished with acrylic and fine liner. Paper size varies but image is roughly 5 inches by 4 inches (including writing). Each piece is unique (so will be a little bit of a surprise as to which one you get).
Bimbi Makes
Bimbi Urquhart
Bimbi grew up in Shoreham, West Sussex, and lives in Tangmere, also in West Sussex. She trained as a viola player at Trinity College of Music and then the Royal College of Music, then went on to play music professionally for many years before working as a music teacher. She began making monochrome and reduction colour linocuts in 2020. She now creates mainly small limited editions of new works, and fulfils linocut commissions.
Bimbi began exhibiting her work in November 2020, when her linocut ‘Chichester Festival Theatre’ was selected by the Sussex Together Festival of the Arts to be displayed both online and in Chichester Cathedral. Her work, ‘I’m Fine’, was selected as the front cover of the Autumn Edition of ESTA (European String Teachers’ Association) magazine in 2021, as part of mental health awareness week. Bimbi has also created digital artwork for each of four movements of the ‘Elements’ piano trio by Libby Croad (Terra, Zephyr, Aqua and Ignis) featuring on iTunes and Spotify, and for the ‘Still I Rise’ concert series for Musici Ireland.
Bimbi has spent some time working with gold ink on black, exploring monochrome possibilities, but has more recently explored multi-layered printmaking, creating both reduction and multi-block prints. Her work carries themes of the strong feminine, absence and presence, freedom, self-expression and the psychology of CG Jung. Her website is www.bimbiurquhart.com

I started printmaking around six years ago, after a few years illustrating in pen & ink and studying graphic design at the University of Leeds. I really enjoy the process of printmaking and get such satisfaction seeing a print come to life from a design, to being carved and then getting to reveal the final image. I love working with traditional, tactile materials and getting covered in ink!
My inspiration mainly comes from the natural world. Living in East Yorkshire I’m very lucky to have a vast range of habitats to explore and love nothing more than heading out with a pair of binoculars, my camera and muddy boots! Once home, it’s time to stick on the kettle, get some music on and get printing!”
Print inspiration:
Bird watching at Bempton in any season is one of my favourite things to do, but on a sunny day, when the wild flowers are in bloom and the cliffs are full of life I couldn’t get much happier! When the gannets start to return, you know spring is on the way and brighter days are ahead!

Anna Lansley
Anna has been printmaking for 3 years working, mainly in lino. Her work is mostly inspired by landscape and nature. Anna originally studied photography at university but then after 17 years working in HR, she was missing being artistic so much that she decided to leave her day job for good in the hopes of discovering something new that involved being creative. She found linocut printmaking completely by accident while on holiday and loved it so much and what started as a hobby quickly became a full-time obsession.
Having worked for the majority producing single colour prints, in 2024 Anna decided it would be a year of colour and the Thought Press Project has been the perfect kick start to that year!

neerscreenprints
Neera Sehgal
Neera's work explores printmaking using traditional indian woodblocks, in non-traditional ways. She combines her interest and experience in screenprinting to work on compositions using woodblocks. Born in London, currently residing in Ealing, her work is a reflection and an expression of her Indian heritage and the connection she feels to her culture. Printing with woodblocks gives her a physical closeness to not only her past but also an angle of expressing the present. Her themes are varied, often exploring encounters with places, people, objects or channeling an emotion or feeling through print. Neera finds the process of mark making through blockprinting a spiritual and meditative creative practice. Traditionally blockprinting in India is used within the textile industry, Neera's work focuses on creating beyond traditional uses, printing on papers such as cotton rag, lotka and washi papers using acrylic inks as her medium. She designs her blocks which are then carved by skilled craftspeople in India. Alongside her printmaking, Neera facilitates workshops at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery to share the joy of blockprinting with the wider community. Excited to be part of the Thoughtpress Project. My print, 'A gift from the Sun God' centres on the marigold flower as the focal part of the composition. These flowers, representing the Sun, are often used as offerings to God. The print is a little blessing from the sun god.
Aisling McWilliam
Aisling (pronounced Ashling) is an Irish Artist living in Hampshire. Working as an artist since 2021, her principle medium is relief print. Aisling is self taught in Lino and dry point and is keen to further explore wood engraving. As a nature lover and enjoying the whimsical, these often combine as inspiration for her work.
cathbristowprints
Cath Bristow
Cath Bristow creates screen prints that engage with the immediacy and potential of using paper cut stencil. For the last 2 years she has been making her own screen printing inks from natural dyes and solely prints on recycled or handmade paper. She rarely creates editions preferring to work fluidly with paper stencils, photo exposed textures and off set screen printing to build the final prints. Cath is based in Brighton were she co-directs East Side Print a community access screen printing studio.
Malgorzata Servanska
"Sunny Day" is a reduction print consisting of eight layers of oil-based ink. This is a limited edition - 19 copies. My goal was to present everyday life's fundamental values and symbols that constitute the basis of happiness. Home as a haven of safety and love, a teddy bear reminding you of children. A house full of children is pure joy. The whole thing is presented in many colours that complement the print and the emotions it conveys.
Caroline Erolin
Caroline Erolin is a printmaker working out of her home studio in the countryside near Carnoustie. Inspired by nature, her love of animals, and her career as a lecturer in medical art, Caroline's prints tend to include animal subjects, often with an anatomical twist. Creatures featured often include local wildlife and especially those frequently overlooked such as insects and amphibians. Caroline works in a variety of traditional print media including linocut, etching, and wood engraving. All works are handmade with traditional processes.

Polly Marix Evans
The design for this one came easily this year. In difficult times, we all need a little ray of light. If only it was as simple as bottling up sunshine into a jar and taking it out and gazing at it when you find yourself in a dark place. I loved printing this, especially applying the yellow for the sunshine with my fingertips - which makes each one just a little bit unique.

amandacardosoprintmaker
Amanda Cardoso
This printmaker from the South Downs, has a bold style with seemingly hurried strokes in her cuts that lend well to depict furred or feathered animals! The subjects are injected with much character and quirkiness! Last year her linocuts of buildings were commissioned by the National Trust. For her previous Thought Press Project prints she has produced a lovely beach scene for 2021 and a delicate print called Harvest for 2022.

mandypurple13
Mandy Collins
Mandy is a multi-discipline artist working mainly with acrylics, inks, resin and collage to create very varied abstract artwork. Much of her work is based on memories of places and moments in time. Her work is often large scale and usually very visually stimulating, landscapes become swathes of colour and waterscapes many flowing colours. She works mainly on timber or canvas which is often finished with resin to create depth and a contemporary look. Lino printing is something she has only recently started and she finds it very relaxing to carve traditional lino, such a different experience from painting huge canvases! And then so rewarding to see the prints created from the finished carving. The print she created for the Thought Press Project was taken from a photo of my middle daughter’s and her new baby’s hands. Mandy is based at Milestone Studios and Gallery in New Mills, a space she created with her youngest daughter in 2022 which has given her the freedom to create, share ideas, encourage others and exhibit her art.
Georgina Kent
Georgina is a full time artist and printmaker based in the castle town of Caerphilly in South Wales. She's been doing this full time for 3 years now. Her work is heavily inspired by nature, mostly trees and birds. Her print for the Thought Press Project was inspired by her memory of lying in the grass, sun on her face, listening to music. She spent many teen hours doing this, or just listening to the light aircraft flying overhead.
Elizabeth Hall
This print is all about that feeling when you're looking out the window, waiting for the sun to finally peek through after being stuck under a blanket of clouds. It's about that moment right before the rays burst through and light up everything.
Laura Elizabeth Hunt
Laura chose to respond to the ‘Bring me Sunshine’ brief with a sun loving Chrysanthemum - sketched, carved & then printed on beautiful Saffron Lokta paper (30gsm). The size of the paper is approximately 19cm x 25cm (edges are hand torn to size) & the image size is approximately 15cm x 21cm.
davehallprintmaking
Dave Hall
Dave is a printmaker from Bristol who works in lino print and screen print. His designs are often finished off with hand painting or drawing when the details can't be achieved by printing alone. Rather than printing one intricate block, the uniqueness in Dave's work is achieved from carving one simple design and printing it over and over again in a spectrum of colours. Dave's subject matter is often retro icons like cassette tapes, Penguin books or polaroid cameras and he loves producing personal designs which celebrate his own hobbies and the city of Bristol.

Louise McGarr
'Eric & Ernie': A nostalgic hand-carved linocut print, limited to 100 editions and designed for the Thought Press Project 2024 with the brief, “Bring Me Sunshine”. To British people of a certain age, this phrase can only mean one thing: Saturday-night family TV in front of much-loved comedy double-act, ‘Morecambe & Wise’. The highlight of every show, at least for me, was the close, when Eric and Ern would sing their signature tune, “Bring Me Sunshine”, complete with a skippy dance off into the distance. The music, lyrics and performance combined together to leave the viewer with such an overwhelmingly feel-good factor, and a sentiment that we could all do well to live by. 'Eric & Ernie' is printed with two shades of Schminke water-based ink onto Gerstaecker linoprinting paper, a 100 gsm paper that is warm white with a grippy surface, torn to approximately320x225mm in size. The image itself measures approximately 290x200mm.
Kathy Baker
I have always loved drawing and painting and during covid lockdowns rediscovered my love of printmaking. I have to balance printmaking with a full time job and family life but I love the fact that when I'm creating it's time for just me. My print inspirations are a bit eclectic, hence the name MixPrints, I love everything from the beauty of Cornwall, where I'm based, to a little bit of 80s nostalgia. Golden Ginkgo: I originally had a completley different idea for a Thought Press Project print but once printed it just didn't feel right to me, so I went back to the drawing board. This led me to think about what previous prints brought me sunshine, what made me happy? and I came back to a little stamp of a ginkgo leaf which was so enjoyable to carve. I had always wanted to create a larger Ginkgo print so this was the perfect chance to get that idea from my head and onto paper.

I've been creating art for as long as I can remember and, having taken up lino carving in 2021, I decided it was time to share my artwork with all of you. I've always been greatly inspired by history, nature and folklore. In my art I try to capture the wonder and fascination I feel when I go out and explore places of interest. My hope is that it inspires the same curiosity in you!

The set of prints he has made for the Thought Press Project is beautiful and you should buy yours while stocks last!
gabyspencerart
Gaby Spencer
Art has been part of Gaby's life for as long as she can remember. Growing up in France, where she attended design school in Bordeaux, my imagination was fired by the landscape and wildlife around me. Moving to first Scotland and then to the Cotswolds Gaby worked in social care and for charities, but always filled her spare time with drawing and painting. She is now focused on printmaking, where she uses linocut and drypoint techniques to create images that are inspired by wildlife, landscape, imagination, mythology, and the different worlds around us. Since the birth of her daughter, Gaby has added some of the humour and sense of fun from children’s imaginations.
rebeccaravenhillart
Rebecca Ravenhill

She produces a great range of art and prints (mostly lino) drawing inspiration from the ever changing Dartmoor countryside, flora and fauna, and tales and legends. This hot pink number is called ‘Shake Your Tail Feathers’ and I absolutely love it, it displays the absolute flamboyance of a flamingo.

Fizah Afzal
This emerging printmaker from Bradford prints many gorgeous subject matters and I enjoy the clear lines against black backgrounds that characterise her recent work. I particularly enjoyed looking at all the scales on these fish!
Hayley Burgess
This time of year reminds me of the cycle of seasons within our own lives. How we grow in spring, mature in summer, lay down roots in autumn and lay quiet in the winter. I am needed now, like this tulip, to guide another generation. Let us be kind, generous and open with each other.
Kseniia Grey
Collecting my bones...To put them together. To grow new roots in a warm spring soil. Healthier and stronger. Let petals tremble with a wind. Let leaves feel the tenderness and warmth. Of spring beginning.
aylishgiamei
Aylish Giamei
Aylish is a relative newcomer to printmaking having no formal art educational background. She started about 7 years ago, attending courses experimenting with several printmaking techniques. It very quickly developed into a passion. She loves the thick, viscous blackness of printmaking ink, the technical challenge of finding an appropriate process with which to communicate her ideas, and the element of surprise when the print is first revealed on the press. Having worked for three decades in the veterinary profession, most of her prints involve animals or medical imagery in some form. The print for this year's Thought Press Project shows a slight deviation from fauna into flora!
