The griffin, griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body of a lion, an eagle's head with erect ears, a feathered breast, and the forelegs of an eagle (including claws). Since classical antiquity, they were known as guardians of treasure, and priceless possessions and represent intelligence, strength, and courage. 
This print is one of 10 original lino prints produced in support of ‘Animal magic’ for Thought Press Project 2023. Proceeds from the sale of these prints will be split between Edible Rotherhithe and the Magic Breakfast charity which provides healthy school breakfasts to children that are at risk of hunger.
