"Panthleon" by @end.grain.prints
Beth is a Scottish artist specialising in the traditional relief printing techiques of wood engraving and linocut.
She is inspired by the flora and fauna that surrounds her in the small Fife village of Wormit where she lives.
Fife has an ancient mystic past, with tales of druids, myths, and magic.
Beth weaves these elements of symbolism and history within the prints she makes.
Each illustration is hand drawn and then slowly engraved and craved upon the surface of the wood and lino.
The box, pear, and lemon wood she engraves had taken years to grow, sometimes hundreds of years.
Beth tries to work much the same way and takes months to produce a finished piece.
"The process itself is a very important part for me, this is when my internal dialogue takes place, with the hope of personal growth within occuring"
Beth prints each block traditionally on her two 19th century printing presses, Dante, a Columbian press from 1860's and Dion an Albion press from 1820's.
Each of the prints are strictly limited editions, no print run is more than 100 and some are as small as 5 in the edition. Beth uses archival paper Somerset satin, each print is signed and numbered.
